Ismaning, May 15, 2024 – With an extraordinary concept, the start-up Racemates promises to reimagine the world of motorsport – interactive, digital, and linked to the actual racing success of the drivers. SPORT1 will accompany the innovative motorsport management platform on its journey: Sport1 GmbH has agreed on a comprehensive strategic cooperation with Racemates GmbH. An intensive campaign will kick off the collaboration – with two-time DTM champion Timo Scheider as the new shareholder in Racemates at the center.
With Racemates, motorsport fans can not only support their favorite stars and talents, but also actively participate in the racing action. The drivers receive the attention they deserve, fans experience an emotional connection that continues even off-season, and compete for the smartest team compositions in an active community. As part of the partnership, Sport1 GmbH will acquire shares in Racemates GmbH, and the product will be promoted across SPORT1's TV, digital, audio, and social media platforms. Furthermore, both partners plan to jointly develop and implement further projects and measures.
This is what Racemates stands for
Racemates is a global motorsports manager that offers physical and digital trading cards of racing drivers, stored as NFTs (non-fungible tokens) on the blockchain. What's special about Racemates' NFTs is that they link to the drivers' real-life performances. The better the assembled team performs in the Racing League on the race weekend, the greater the impact on the performance score, which the innovative platform calculates based on the drivers' actual performances. With physical trading cards, fans can verify the authenticity of each card directly via their smartphone. Racemates has acquired marketing licenses from teams, drivers, and racing series for its business model, so these partners also benefit from the sale of the trading cards – just like the other players do when, for example, the value of popular trading cards increases. DTM champion Timo Scheider promotes Racemates as a testimonial
The launch of the collaboration between Racemates and SPORT1 will be accompanied by an extensive campaign. At the center of the campaign is two-time DTM champion Timo Scheider – who, like Michael Scheider, will become a shareholder in Racemates. The DTM legend is excited about the strategic collaboration and recommends to fans: "With Racemates, motorsport fans can support their favorite drivers, strategically manage their own team, analyze the Racemates score, and always stay up to date with the latest news about their favorite series, team, or favorite driver!" The campaign, which is intended to be specifically positioned in the motorsports environment, will be broadcast both on SPORT1's digital platforms and on free TV.
